STONE TO ART 2022

About us

We are Western Australia International Stone Sculpture Symposium (WAISSS), a small, not-for-profit organization, that held WA’s first international stone carving event, STONE TO ART 2022.

5 artists around Australia were invited to WA and given a beautiful block of stone each to transform into 5 large public sculptures at Attadale reserve, City of Melville. The public was invited to freely observe throughout the event, this was a rare chance for the public to see how stone sculptures are created from the raw block of stones to the finished public artworks, and most of all, the sweat and passion that goes into creating these pieces.

We are planning this event again across different cities in WA to create a sculpture trail between the contributing cities for the public to enjoy. We believe that this unique stone carving project will not only bring artistic merit but also educational and cultural benefits to Western Australia. We invite the community to see the artworks evolve and develop an appreciation for not only the artwork but also what our beautiful WA natural resources can offer.
